Every new year Apple releases new iOS version. But before it became available for all users it firstly distributed only for developers, and slightly later as public beta. Which can try anyone. But firstly check if your iPhone or iPad compatible with iOS 10
And this year wasn’t exception – Apple has just introduced iOS 10 at WWDC 2016. It contains a ton of new features and improvements. So if you can’t wait until the end of Septemeber and want to try it right now, that post for you! But be careful, back up your phone before upgrading as described farther.
How to make an archived backup of your iPhone or iPad
While the upgrade process is quite simple and straight forward, any time you make any significant change to your device you risk problems. And with your personal data, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
- Plug iPhone or iPad into your Mac or Windows PC.
- Launch iTunes.
- Click on the iPhone or iPad icon in the menu bar when it appears.
- Make sure backup is set to This Computer.
- Click on Back Up Now.
- Back up Apps, if asked.
- Open iTunes Preferences from the menu bar.
- Click on the Devices tab.
- Click with right button on your Backup and choose Archive.
Archiving will save your backup from being overwritten by an iOS 10 backup in the future.
How to sign up to the iOS 10 public beta
You can sign up with your Apple ID to get the public beta. However, if you’ve already signed up a public beta for the new OS X, then you don’t need to register again for iOS 10. You will only have to sign in with the same Apple ID.
To register your account for the iOS 10 public beta simply visit beta.apple.com on your iPhone or iPad and sign in with your Apple ID. Agree to the terms and conditions.
Now you need to enroll your iPhone or iPad in the iOS 10 public beta:
- Go again to beta.apple.com
- Click the iOS tab
- Tap on Download profile
- Tap on Install
- Enter your Passcode if asked
- Tap on Install to agree to the beta agreement
- Tap on Install to confirm
- Tap on Restart to reboot your device
Once your iPhone or iPad is rebooted it will start to download iOS 10 automatically.
Hot to install the iOS 10 public beta
You will be notified when iOS 10 public beta is downloaded and ready to install.
However, you can also go to Software Update at any time:
- Open Settings app
- Tap on General
- Tap on Software Update
- Tap on Install Now
- Agree to the Terms and Conditions
- Click Agree again to confirm
- Now your iPhone or iPad will reboot and install iOS 10.
After installing the iOS 10 public beta, its time for you to get started with the new OS public beta. Your device will be running iOS 10 beta after reboots. However, sometimes you will have to login to complete the update. If so, simply Tap Continue, then enter your Apple ID password, and tap Get Started. Now you will see the Home screen and that’s it! Your iPad or iPhone is have now installed with the new iOS public beta.
